Silver charm bracelets

Silver bracelets have been through several waves of trends over the years. During the earliest days, wearing charms was a way to ward off evil spirits or bad luck. When Queen Victoria was in power, she wore charm bracelets that started a fashion among the European noble classes. Also, soldiers returning from World War II brought home trinkets made by craftsmen in local areas where they fought to give to their loved ones. American teenagers in the 1950s and early 1960s collected charms in an effort to record certain events in their lives. Interest and production of charms slowed down through the latter part of the 20th century, however, there was a resurgence of popularity after the year 2000 when movies such as Pirates of the Caribbean brought back the trend with little charms of swords, crosses, and skulls.

Out of all the jewelry, silver charms go almost hand in hand with bracelets. During the 20th century, it was considered that bracelets provide an insight and vision regarding the charms collected on the bracelets. Each charm is unique and has its own meaning universally and to the individual who chooses to wear it. A heart charm could mean love, a horseshoe could equal luck, and moneybags could indicated wealth. However, the general idea behind charms is that they shouldn’t be calculated in terms of just their cost and would luck they could bring, but that they represent pieces of ourselves.

Silver charms can be mixed and matched to suit the taste and needs of the wearer. In some cases, people would also buy silver pendant necklaces to match charm bracelets as a gift set. One of the cool things about charm bracelets is that charms can be added over time and do not all have to be purchased at once. This creates a personal history between the wearer and the bracelet, giving more meaning behind the jewelry.
